And they're pretty great so far!
Nils at The Fantasy Hive wrote an astoundingly in-depth, insightful and wonderful take on the story, ending with: "Swashbucklers brings all the magic of the 80’s back to life, and delivers a fun, action-packed tale with heart."
Honestly, her reviews are always the very best around (budding reviewers, take note), so when I get a thumbs up it's a big moment. You can read the full Swashbucklers review at The Fantasy Hive here.
Meanwhile, I caught up with the Publishers Weekly review today and they seemed to enjoy it too!
"[Swashbucklers] combines sci-fi and fantasy elements into an energetic cross-genre romp."
All in all, I'm pretty pleased with how it's being received. Want to get your hands on a copy as soon as it's released? You can preorder the book here!
In other news...
I started a new job recently, back in the realms of archaeology, and it's a lot of fun so far. To be honest, it's nice to get out and about again after so long freelancing and especially the lockdown shenanigans of the last 18 months.
This year so far has knocked me about a bit (I'm sure I'm not the only one) and I've been a little lost at times. So to have Swashbucklers on the home straight for launch and to firm up my day-to-day work in a field I've always loved is a Good Thing and definitely helps.
Oh and I had a pretty exciting phone call tonight, which adds another layer of fun to the next few months and years.
And oh oh oh the other secret project is still going on in the background. Hopefully there will be some kind of news on that later this year...
Until next time, look after you.
Dan
